Chromophilia loves colours! We have used the idea and researched the meaning and impact of colours on human beings and decided to create a design concept and a collection. Now it is ready!Inicialy this are underwear pieces in organic cotton, close-to- -skin colour- clouds- garments impregnated with COLOURS. There are also some ”one of” pieces of knitwear throws made to order. I love this “one of” part as it gives me freedom to do something I can make according to my feeling for the person that is going to own it!Valentina is preparing downloadable version of the User Manual so watch that space!it’ll be here soon. Contact us if you are interested in the collection…and it is supported by KONSTNÄRSNÄMNDEN, www.konstnarsnamnden.se/

“The human mind, once stretched by a new idea, never regains its
original dimensions!”
I’ve spend entire weekend photographing and processing chromophilic images! Great fun actually, so I just felt like posting one together with this great quote for a colourful week.
Creativity Mobilization Technique
“Art is the plank after the shipwreck, that saves someone…”
—Constantin Brancusi
A nonverbal process-oriented method involving work with brush, paint, and paper that attempts to activate functions essential for various types of creative activities. This method is based on the effects of painting with carefully chosen colours in order to affect the subconscious mind. This allows releasing projections and creative blocs…
it works and it’s fun.
That is why I decided to start an online test group!

I have been thinking a great deal lately about the environment. Especially now when Chromophilia is going fashion it seems natural to consider all aspects of environmental pollution related to making the garments and by… dying them in colours. Continue reading ‘Colours and environment’
Today I went for a walk to see the melting signs of winter. Ice has almost disappeared from the sea and when I took this photograph of Mälaren, a lake in Stockholm, I decided to write a post about this interesting shade of Blue.I’d wear Ice Blue when I crave some isolation or to calm the stressed hearth and mind. This would bee good colour to wear in connection with work that involves reflection and precision. Blue is also a colour of the mind and seams to be a preferred colour of the male population (mostly Sky Blue).
Surprisingly I’ve also found that for some people this colour symbolises LOVE. This is quite interesting connection.
Any idea why would it symbolise LOVE?? Anyone? Continue reading ‘Cool yourself with ice’
I am back after a while of silence and will be more present now as I am to write more about my theory of colour.
As Tita and Valentina are posting great stuff about all other art forms in this coloured universe, under this category, I will be explaining (in an entirely subjective manner) how to use the colours. As well as the meaning and the effects that the colour has on us but more to the point:
how can we use it FOR OUR OWN PORPOISE.
How use the colour and not to be used by it. Continue reading ‘How not to be used by colour’
Colour Wheel from COLOURlovers.
The love for colours is obviously shared by quite few. Just found this site called COLOURlovers. It is a “resource that monitors and influences colour trends. COLOURlovers gives the people who use color – whether for ad campaigns, product design, or even in architectural specification - a place to check out a world of color, compare color palettes, submit news and comments, and read color related articles and interviews.”
I tried to make my own palette but can’t figure out how, I’ll work on it so watch that space.

For people who love RED life can become a flying tappets experience!
And if you are a person who loves it: (alizarin, carmine, indian red, vermilon etc.) you definitely belong in the mist of life at least if you believe a colour psychologist.
Saints and devils alike appreciated Red colour and this alone shows duality of it and of people that passionately likes it. Some meditation practices advise not to use combination of red and black for meditation, as they are believed to attract lower energies and …ghosts. Continue reading ‘Theory of Red’

The Luscher-Colour-Test measures a person’s psycho-physical state, his or her ability to withstand stress, to perform, and to communicate. It uncovers the cause of psychological stress, which can lead to physical symptoms. Using 5015 precise definitions, the selections from among these pre-determined test colors measure the state of 34 personality traits, some of which lie outside the realm of the conscious. Interested in the impact of colour on human body and mind, in colour psychology or in the science of colour? The Royal College of Art in London offers excellent resources for research on this subject. The Colour Reference Library, according to Neil Parkinson, the collection manager, is one of the two libraries in the world specialised on colour. Continue reading ‘The Colour Library at RCA’
Our personal and cultural associations affect our experience of color. Colors are seen as warm or cool mainly because of long-held (and often universal) associations. Yellow, orange and red are associated with the heat of sun and fire; blue, green and violet with the coolness of leaves, sea and the sky. Read more about colour psychology.
There are literally millions of colours! And every colour can be described in terms of having three main attributes: hue, saturation and brightness.
Hue is identified as the colour family or colour name (such as red, green, purple). Hue is directly linked to the colour’s wavelength.
Saturation, also called “chroma,” is a measure of the purity of a colour or how sharp or dull the colour appears. More Continue reading ‘Colour attributes’
